Discovering God’s Purpose For You

Discovering God's Purpose

But then Jesus makes an emphatic declaration: He possesses ALL authority in heaven and on earth. This complete authority forms the foundation for what He commands next. Based on this absolute authority, He gives four specific directives that apply directly to you as His follower today:

  1. Go” – This is an active command. Your faith should move you now outward into the world to purpose
  2. Make disciples” – The core mission/purpose isn’t just sharing the gospel, but helping others become committed followers of Christ
  3. Baptize them” – Help guide others into public declaration of their faith in the Triune God
  4. Teach them to obey” – Discipleship involves both instruction and application of Jesus’ commands

Most powerfully, Jesus concludes with an incredible promise that speaks directly to you: “I am with you always.” As you step out in faith to fulfill this mission – wherever your are today or wherever He leads – you never go alone. The same Jesus who has all authority promises His presence with you every step of the way, until the very end.

This passage isn’t just history; it’s your commission. You’re part of this continuing mission that Jesus gave to His followers, equipped with His authority and accompanied by His presence.

So this is our Universal Purpose to go and make disciples.
